Artificial Intelligence Policy

This policy applies to authors, reviewers, and editors of Lex Aeterna Law Journal.

Authors

  • Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the content.
  • Any use of artificial intelligence tools must be disclosed in the Acknowledgements, naming the tool and the part of the work it assisted with, such as language editing, summarising, or translating the abstract.
  • Authors remain fully responsible for the entire manuscript, including parts prepared with such assistance.
  • It is strictly prohibited to include statutory quotations, case numbers, judicial reasoning, or sources generated by an artificial intelligence tool without verifying them against the original source. Such tools are known to produce case numbers and quotations that never existed. A manuscript containing fictitious sources is rejected immediately and its authors may not submit for two years.

Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload a manuscript under review to any artificial intelligence service, as the manuscript is unpublished and confidential.

Editors

Decisions to accept or reject a manuscript must not be made by an artificial intelligence tool. The decision always rests with a human editor.
